ESMira works without a steady internet connection. All functionality of studies are saved locally in the app and saved data are cached and will be uploaded as soon as there is an internet connection.

When first opening the app, each participant is assigned their own randomly generated user id, used for uploading data or sending messages. Participants do not have to provide any personal information to use the app.
